CFSP Application Information

 To Apply to the Program

Applications for FY10 are due on January 15, 2010 with notification by February 1, 2010. Faculty Scholars are expected to begin on July 1, 2010.

Please send the following to Emily.Warren@UCDenver.edu:

  • your current NIH Biosketch
  • a statement describing your research goals (1-2pgs)
  • a career development plan (made in consultation with Anne Libby) and an assessment of your mentorship needs (1-2 pgs each)
  • a letter of financial and career support from department chair/division chief (must assure 20K per year monetary commitment by department/ division and 50% release time for research)
  • up to two other letters of support as appropriate
  • one recent, first-authored publication or manuscript


 

 
 

 Application Criteria

  • Must be a current or prospective member of full-time faculty at the University of Colorado.
  • Must be a physician (MD or DO) or doctorally-trained non-physician (PhD or equivalent).
  • Must have completed rigorous research training during fellowship (physicians) or doctoral program (PhD). An advanced degree (masters or doctorate) or substantial prior training in epidemiology, biostatistics, and research design is preferred for physician applicants.
  • Must not have any current or prior funding as a principal investigator at the R01 level or equivalent. Individuals with a current career development award (K-award or equivalent) are eligible.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to a career as a clinical-translational researcher, signified by evidence of prior accomplishments (training, publications, small grants received). A clear research plan to obtain a career development grant or independent funding at the R01 level (for applicants with an existing career development award) is essential.
  • Must have the support of the applicant’s home department/division; at least 50% protected time for research during the two years of enrollment in the CFSP with salary support for that protected time; and an agreement to fund the program costs. For 2010-12, the total costs of the program are $20,000 per participant per year.
  • Should have mentorship needs that are not fully addressed within the scholars’ home department/ division.
