Translational Informatics

 About the Program

Michael Kahn, MD PhDThe CCTSI Research Informatics Integrated Core (RIIC) is accelerating knowledge exchange across translational boundaries by facilitating collaboration, integration, and education. To accomplish this, RIIC is developing the Research Informatics Integration Platform (RIIP), a novel scalable and interoperable set of informatics tools and services to promote sharing tools, data, and knowledge. We are establishing RIIC as a living laboratory for innovation in informatics and transformation for the next generation of clinical translational investigators.

 Services & Resources

For questions about the RIIC, please contact the following:

  • Informatics Consultation Services—Contact for research informatics and bioinformatics tools and applications, as well as CCTSI web site development.
Thomas Yaeger, Services & Support Director - 720.848.6675
  • Research Study Database Development—Contact for web-based data management services, study data management, and study design/platform questions. Also responsible for monthly CCTSI-sponsored Informatics Seminar Series.
    Jessica Bondy- 303.724.4353
  • Clinical Research Informatics Research Opportunities—Contact for access to RIIC activities for students, fellows, or faculty interested in research projects focused on innovations in Research Informatics tools and techniques. Michael Kahn, RIIC Director, Informatics Research Director - 720.777.6407
  • Clinical Research Informatics Educational Opportunities—Contact for Translational Informatics training for investigators and informatics professionals, including the Virtual Expert single-topic web-based streaming videos.
Steve Ross, Informatics Educational Support Co-Director - 303.724.2267

Diane Skiba, Informatics Educational Support Co-Director - 303.724.8527

 Services and Fees

The RIIC provides informatics services to support translational research. We consult with investigators, study coordinators, and biostatisticians to provide informatics technologies to ensure studies capture high quality data that is safe, secure, and meets all regulatory requirements.

To access RIIC services, all of the following criteria must be met:

  • The study principle investigator must be a CCTSI member
  • Human-related protocols must have been submitted to COMIRB or must have a documented waiver of review from COMIRB
  • Be reviewed and approved by one of the CCTSI scientific review committees (SARC, PACT, K/Pilot/Novel Methods awards) or another recognized scientific review committee such as the Cancer Center. Other scientific review committees will be considered on an ad-hoc basis in consultation with the CCTSI PI, Ron Sokol.

For more information and details about informatics services, view Table 1 and RIIC Services Information.
