Medicinal Chemistry Core Facility

Need Chemical Synthesis or Drug Lead Development?

  Medicinal Chemistry Core Facility
  (located in RC-2)
  PI: David Ross, PhD
  Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences Department
  Professor of Toxicology

Director: Michael Wempe, PhD

The Medicinal Chemistry Core Facility can provide a range of services related to chemical services or drug lead development. Medicinal Chemistry Services may be unique to each investigator initiated request. After an initial evaluation and consultation with the investigator, the core will develop a detailed custom synthesis proposal including a scientific literature search, chemical and reagent availability and costs, and a detailed breakdown of costs for each chemical step and analytical identification (i.e. NMR, LC-MS, etc) based upon target quantity and purity.

For additional information and/or initial consultation, please contact Michael Wempe

 Services & Resources

We are here to help validate proof-of-principle target discovery and assist in pre-clinical evaluation.

Fundamental medicinal chemistry support includes:
 chemical synthesis

assistance in lead compound identification and optimization

 structure-activity relationship (SAR) analysis

improvement of chemical properties associated with ADME and/or toxicity issues

 literature searching
