CCTSI Nutrition Core—Nutrition Expertise for Every Research Need

 About the Program
Fruit BasketThe Nutrition Core provides nutrition research expertise and assistance for clinical protocols. We have two groups of professionals: a team of scientists with extensive experience in nutrition and metabolism research, and a food service staff trained to prepare and distribute meals with a full commercial kitchen at their disposal.

 Services & Resources

Our services include, but are not limited to:

  • Dietary intake assessment – habitual and during protocol interventions
  • Measured ad libatum feeding
  • Hunger and satiety assessment
  • Meal preparation, including meal design, preparation, measurement, and dispensation
  • Growth and body composition measurement in children
  • Resting metabolic rate (RMR) measurements in children
  • Consultation on study design, American dietary norms, and ways to achieve specific dietary intervention targets
  • Dietary counseling and instruction
  • Protocol-specific education and data-collection materials


How to Use the Nutrition Core:
Only CCTSI CTRC-approved protocols can request Nutrition Core Services. A small fee is associated with the provision of services.

Complete a CTRC application form, which is an attachment to the COMIRB application form.  As part of the application process, contact Janine Higgins for help with resources and pricing.
