Community Engagement and Research

 About the Program

Andy Kramer, MDCommunity Engagement is critical to increase the reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, and maintenance of clinical and translational research. Accordingly, the CCTSI is pursuing a bold agenda to integrate and transform existing community and academic partnerships into a collaborative, broad-based translational research enterprise that will enhance public trust and improve health and health services across geographic, cultural, and socioeconomic boundaries. The Partnership of Academicians and Communities for Translation (PACT) is the CCTSI Core that is promoting collaborations both between community groups and academics and across community groups in order to foster collaborative research to reduce health disparities.  Objectives of the PACT are to facilitate performance of Community-Based Participatory Research, to educate and bring together investigators and communities, to develop programs to improve relationships and build trust between academicians and communities, and to make funds available for community engagement and research.
