The CCTSI's Evaluation and Tracking Framework

 Key CCTSI Evaluation Questions

  1. What evidence exists that the CCTSI has successfully reorganized to transform the process by which basic discoveries / research findings are translated into clinical and community-based practice? (domain: reorganization/infrastructure)
    a. What evidence exists that programs are explicitly oriented / designed to foster translational research? (domain: organizational change)
  2. What evidence exists that the newly reorganized systems are functioning effectively? (domain: program effectiveness)
  3. What evidence exists that the CCTSI increases researcher effectiveness to conduct translational research? (domain: researcher effectiveness)
  4. What evidence exists that the reorganization enhances / promotes integration and collaboration across disciplines and institutions? (domain: integration, collaboration)
    a. What evidence exists that enhanced collaboration and integration accelerate innovation? – the rate at which novel discoveries / methodologies / technologies are made / developed?
    b. What evidence exists that enhanced collaboration and integration accelerate translation? – the rate at which novel discoveries / methodologies / techniques are applied to clinical and community-based practice?
    c. To what extent and in what ways are CCTSI core functions connected? How does this change / evolve over time? What are the implications in terms of innovation? … in terms of promoting seamless translation across the CCTSI?
  5. What evidence exists that the CCTSI's work results in quality clinical and translational research that has the potential to impact the nation’s health? (domain: quality research)
  6. What evidence emerges that CCTSI T1 and T2 translational research enterprises evolve in terms of how they function in relation to one another? (domain:translation)
    a. What are the implications in terms of seamless translation as per NIH’s roadmap?
    b. How are opportunities to improve the health of populations leveraged / lost as a result?
